District Proclaims Drinking Water Week in New Hazelton
WHEREAS human health is dependent upon an abundant supply of pure, clean drinking water, and
WHEREAS safety, quality and abundance of water can only be safeguarded by sound environmental protection, appropriate treatment, and properly maintained distribution systems, and
WHEREAS we are all stewards of the water infrastructure which future generations depend upon, and
WHEREAS each citizen of our community is called upon to help protect our source waters from pollution, to practice water conservation, and to get involved in local water issues, and
WHEREAS federal, provincial, and local governments as well as concerned organizations, are cognizant and supportive of measures which promote safe, clean, and abundant water, and responsible wastewater management, and
WHEREAS one such measure involves heightening public awareness of the value of our drinking water resources, and encouraging the public to promote this awareness.
Therefore, I, Pieter Weeber, Mayor, do hereby proclaim
May 1-7, 2011 as Drinking Water Week
in the District of New Hazelton
